CASE STUDIES

Example 1 - Complex of holiday home lettings

The proprietor writes: "As for all businesses I am constantly managing the costs to keep them as low as possible. I knew I spent around £4,000 on electricity and telephony each year, but had never really understood the opportunities for reducing this figure. Last year I determined to tackle this and reviewed the market. After a thorough analysis of the contenders I selected The Utility Warehouse Discount Club as my preferred supplier. I did so partly because of their low price and partly because of the availability of a single bill for multiple services. With four separate electricity supplies and three telephones this was a real benefit! I now reckon I am saving around £1,000 per year over the previous suppliers - not a king's ransom perhaps, but a very useful contribution to a small business. www.llanfendigaid.co.uk

Example 2 - Direct Marketing Company

The client is a small enterprise in the South that sends out around 1,000 faxes a day as part of a "blast" advertising campaign for a new book or magazine. The company saw a The Utility Warehouse Discount Club flyer and enquired about the potential benefits for them. After analysis of the expected call volumes and the impact of recent EU legislation on fax broadcasting, it was apparent that by use of the full range of The Utility Warehouse Discount Club land line services, including their CallMe option, substantial savings could be made on both the outbound and inbound calls, as well as on the 0800 number line rental charges. The actual savings achieved on average were:

  • Outbound call charges: £1235 per month
  • Inbound call charges: £257 per month
  • 0800 line rental charges: £48 per month
thereby achieving savings for the company of over £15,000 a year.

Example 3 - Four bedroom 1970's house

Located on an estate on the outskirts of a market town in Hampshire the house is home to two working adults and two teenage children. The family decided to sign up for The Utility Warehouse Discount Club gas and electricity services initially; and, in the light of the ease or otherwise of the switch over between suppliers, to consider the other services later. Given the horror stories which freely circulate about huge hassles with superseded suppliers, the family were understandably apprehensive at first. However, in their words: "the change over was so flawless we hardly knew it had happened. We were really delighted. We then signed up for the The Utility Warehouse Discount Club landline services for the adults, the mobile services for all four of us; and we are going to upgrade to the The Utility Warehouse Discount Club internet service once ADSL is available in our area in the near future. We calculate we have saved around £300 a year off our previous expenditure of some £1,100, which is most welcome given the probable rise soon in interest rates".
